The Golden State Warriors are the West’s biggest wildcard. They could miss the playoffs and they could repeat as the champs. The future is unpredictable.

The NBA’s Western Conference is absolutely stacked. The conference’s top-seven teams are all elite and even the next three will all vie for a playoff spot. The Golden State Warriors, while almost certainly a lock for the playoffs, are as unpredictable as it comes.

The Warriors will be lead by two-time MVP and elite point guard Stephen Curry once again. He’s a dominant player and proved that this past postseason, averaging over 35 points per game during the Western Conference Finals.

However, what if Curry misses 20+ games? What if the Warriors don’t mesh like fans hope? What if D’Angelo Russell isn’t a good fit?

There are so many questions surrounding the Warriors, possibly more than any other team in the association. And, while they should be fine during the regular season, the postseason could be their most trying challenge of the Stephen Curry era.

Finishing at the top of the West last season, the Warriors actually seemed to struggle for the majority of the season. Yes, they rattled off several long winning streaks, but overall, it seemed to be a more bumpy ride than usual, especially early in the season when the team lost five of six.

Following an injury-filled offseason, the Warriors lost the 2019 NBA Finals. After the injury to Klay Thompson, it was expected that Golden State wasn’t going to finish off the three-peat. That injury to Thompson will impact this season as well.

With Thompson out, the Warriors will have to start either Alfonzo McKinnie or Glenn Robinson III at the three along with Willie Cauley-Stein at the five. This will be the Warriors worst opening game starting lineup of their five-year dynasty.

Thompson will return and the Dubs will be at full strength again. That said, the trio of Draymond Green, Curry and Thompson took them to the Finals before. Now, with D’Angelo Russell on the team and in a loaded West, the trials will come at full force.

Can the Dubs silence the haters? I believe they can, but the future will almost definitely be filled with unpredictability.
