The Golden State Warriors have had one of the best five-year stints in NBA history. Here’s how we rank those five Steve Kerr-coached, NBA Finals-reaching teams.

Following the heartbreak of a first-round playoff exit at the hands of near rivals Los Angeles Clippers in the 2013-14 season, Golden State Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob and Peter Guber sought change by hiring Steve Kerr a former NBA champion and recently a colour commentator for TNT.

Despite the obvious doubt among supporters the move proved to pay dividends and more important shaped the Warriors for a chain of events that had never occurred in the Warriors franchise.

It also sparked a change which helped implement the style of small ball which has been adopted by the rest of the NBA and saw the emergence of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as true superstars.

Kerr’s decision to use a system that relied on ball movement and a high-octane speed has produced emphatic results over the years. Three championships and a record-breaking 73-9 season in 2015/16.

Recreating the elements from Phil Jackson’s triangle offense, Gregg Popovich’s spacing and pace in San Antonio and later the uptempo principals Alvin Gentry used has seen Kerr become one of best coaches in the league.

Here we rank the teams in the Steve Kerr era.
