Honorable mentions:

Before the ranking can begin, we must take a look at the few teams that deserve an honorable mention. These squads may not have reached full dynasty status, but they were still great nonetheless.

  • Miami Heat (2010’s): 2x Champions, 4x NBA Finals appearances

LeBron James kicked off the super team era by announcing his decision to join the Miami Heat. Playing alongside the star talent of Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, the Heat were truly a terrifying team. Together, this trio dominated the Eastern Conference for four consecutive seasons and won two championships.

  • Houston Rockets (1990’s): 2x Champions, 2x NBA Finals appearances

Behind the incredible abilities of Hakeem Olajuwon, the Houston Rockets took advantage of a two-year span in which Michael Jordan took a break from basketball in the 1990’s. Becoming the only six seed to ever win a championship, the Rockets had a great two-year stretch.

  • Detroit Pistons (1980/90’s): 2x Champions, 3x NBA Finals appearances

The bad boy Detroit Pistons will be remembered for eternity. This legendary squad combined gritty defense with shocking offensive attacks to topple elite teams such as the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
