6. 1960s – Boston Celtics

Led by the legendary Bill Russell, the 1960’s Boston Celtics are one of the most historic teams of all-time.

To keep it simple, the Celtics are the greatest team of all-time in terms of strictly winning. Let these numbers sink in for a second:

Boston Celtics from 1960-1969:

  • 9 Total NBA Championships
  • 7 Consecutive NBA Championships
  • Only one losing season

This is what the Celtics experienced throughout the decade. An unparalleled success that no other franchise has come close to replicating since.

Before the decade even began, the Celtics had already been to three straight NBA Finals and won two of them. Of course, Russell was the man behind each victory, averaging 14.8 points and 22.4 rebounds per game for the decade.

Alongside Russell was a group of Hall-of-Fame players in John Havlicek, Tom Heinson, K.C. Jones and Same Jones. This made them one of the most star-studded teams the league had ever seen.
