The Golden State Warriors will be a brand new team this season with the addition of D’Angelo Russell.

Many fans probably didn’t expect the Golden State Warriors to pull off a deal landing D’Angelo Russell. The 21-year-old just finished his second and most successful season with the Brooklyn Nets and looked like he was ready to be the finishing piece to a contending squad looking for a point guard.

Instead, D-Lo was involved in a sign-and-trade deal that sent him to the experienced Warriors. Here, D-Lo will take a very different role from anything he has ever had before and will be asked to accelerate his development.

Russell is more than just a consolation prize for losing Kevin Durant. In fact, D-Lo’s success will directly correlate with the team. If Russell doesn’t click, neither do the Dubs. The Warriors are going to count on D-Lo big time this season and he will need to step up and answer the call.

The Dubs are hurting with the loss of KD as well as other players like Andre Iguodala, DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook. With Klay Thompson laboring a torn ACL, a large chunk of the offensive load will land on D-Lo’s shoulders.

This change of scenery will impact the entire roster. Let’s break down three ways the Dubs will be a different team with D-Lo running the show.
