Trade rumors are going to follow D’Angelo Russell for his entire first season with the Golden State Warriors.

From the moment he joined the Golden State Warriors, trade discussions have been surrounding D’Angelo Russell. The 23-year-old guard was brought in as a last second replacement for Kevin Durant, but does he belong with the team long term?

There is no question that Russell’s value to the team is immense. Without Klay Thompson for most of the regular season and of course no Durant, the Dubs will need to generate offense somehow. Relying on Stephen Curry to do it all isn’t realistic. This is why Russell’s presence is significant.

Together, Russell and Curry create an interesting dynamic. Both are crafty playmakers and skilled scorers. These two All-Star guards can light up the scoreboard playing alongside each other.

In contrast, their defensive capabilities will be questionable at best. Furthermore, Russell’s fit with the team as a whole comes into question once Thompson returns. Consequently, a trade may be the best option for the Warriors.

This doesn’t mean the Dubs should already be looking to trade D-Lo. In fact, they couldn’t trade him if they wanted to until at least December 15. Meaning, the Warriors will give D-Lo a sincere chance to prove himself.

Still, it’s possible that by the time December comes around the Warriors have discovered that this isn’t going to work. If things go wrong, here are six potential trades the Dubs could pull off.
