What’s a great start to the 2019-2020 season for the Golden State Warriors?

After a long-awaited fixtures announcement, it is finally known that Steve Kerr’s Golden State Warriors will face Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers in their opening game of the 2019-20 season.

The Dubs regular-season schedule has proven quite favorable with only 10 back-to-back games down from last season’s 13, and the Dubs have been assigned an enormous 30 nationally televised games, also more than the previous season.

However, Golden State will spend a significant amount of time on the road from the 6th November to the 18th December, a span that features 15 road games across the nation.

As far as the start of the season is concerned the Dubs will face the Clippers, Thunder, Pelicans, Suns, Spurs, Hornets, Trail Blazers, Rockets, Timberwolves and the Thunder again in their opening ten games.

It is a well-noted that Klay Thompson will be unavailable for the start of the campaign so that leaves the question of what will be a good start for Steve Kerr’s Dubs?

Aside from the Clippers who will likely be a full strength, the Warriors should hold no fear in terms of the rest of the opening ten games and seemingly match up well against the rest of the teams on the menu.

Following the Clippers contest, Steve Kerr’s men will face Oklahoma City, Phoenix, New Orleans, San Antonio and Charlotte. Four of the five teams will likely settle for lottery picks instead of a postseason berth.

If the Dubs can win four of those five games, they should be pretty pleased. However, why not win all five? The team is easily more talented than each of those five.

However, realistically speaking, without Thompson, if the Dubs can finish with a 6-4 or 7-3 record from their opening ten games, they should be very pleased.

Overcoming the Clippers will be a stern test but on paper on least the Dubs are stronger than the rest of the teams they face early into their campaign.
