Getting all the assets

The Golden State Warriors, in exchange for Russell, could find the Phoenix Suns as a likely trade partner. A team that won’t be in playoff contention, the Suns could use a superstar for a few of the assets they acquired last season.

Here’s what a potential deal would look like.

The Warriors get depth all over the court. They’d also secure a player in Dario Saric that’d allow the death lineup to be formed again. A five-man unit with Green, Curry, Thompson, Saric and Oubre Jr. could thrive on both sides of the court.

With this deal, the Warriors wouldn’t be compromising the future either. They’re dealing a 23-year-old for two 23-year-olds and a 25-year-old. These three could also be beneficial for the prolonging of the Warriors’ superstar trio.

However, the Warriors, cap-wise, would struggle to do this after Oubre signed for two years and $30 million this past offseason. That said, Saric and Johnson would still provide great value.

The Warriors may not want to do a 3-for-1 for Russell when trying to content in 2020. What about substituting Deandre Ayton in for Oubre Jr.? Is this deal clearly not happening then?
