First-round draft pick

The team’s first-round assets come in at No. 5, and they’ll be something the Warriors will trade on a whim. The Dubs are guaranteed to have their first-round pick from 2021-2023, allowing them the possibility to trade their 2022 pick.

Expect this asset to be available in any trade talks. Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen teams trade multiple first-round picks in order to improve their team, and the Warriors will be no different this season.

For the first year in the past three, the Warriors may look to add talent at the NBA’s deadline, and this pick could hold some value. However, it’ll likely still be at the bottom of the first round considering that the team re-signed Klay Thompson and extended Draymond Green.

The Warriors have only had four of their last seven first-round picks. They didn’t draft in the first round in 2013 or 2014, meaning that, prior to the Kevin Durant-era, the team was active in the trade market.

They’ll return to that status this upcoming season as they to work out any kinks in the offense early in the season. As aforementioned, it’s difficult to predict the offensive’s success without Klay Thompson though which, in turn, makes it difficult to predict their aggression in the trade market.
