Not Adding a Veteran Late in the Season

The Golden State Warriors are so close to the hard cap that they literally are not allowed to add another contract without shedding a player. And, to make matters worse, there are only five players that shedding their contracts would actually matter.

However, since the veteran’s minimum contracts are prorated, the Warriors could sign a player later in the season. Jamal Crawford or Joakim Noah may be the premier targets that the Dubs may consider signing.

For the Warriors, they could use that veteran experience from either leader. Both Crawford and Noah would add a veteran leadership presence that is unmatched in the free agency market. But, there’s no guarantee that they’re still on the board.

Also, given the fact that Golden State is keeping all three of their rookies on the roster, they could use the presence, more notable in the frontcourt. With the buyout market going to be heating up at that time so there may be additional options.

It would be a mistake to not add a veteran late in the season.
