Golden State Warriors likely have four players in ESPN’s top 50

The Golden State Warriors will likely have four players be named in the top 50 for ESPN’s annual top 100 players list.
Though many believe the talent pool for the Golden State Warriors has shrunk, they still remain one of the most loaded teams in the league. ESPN recently released the first 50 players of their annual top 100 NBA players list and it appears that the Dubs will have four members ranked in the top half of the order.
Some notable names have already been listed. Players such as Jaylen Brown Zach Lavine and Andre Drummond just missed the cut of reaching the top 50. Meanwhile, promising young players like Zion Williamson, Luka Doncic and Trae Young have still not been named, leaving us to assume they have each made it to the top 50.
Assuming that Klay Thompson isn’t being left out of the list entirely due to his ACL injury, we can assume that he will join his other star teammates in the top 50. Stephen Curry, D’Angelo Russell and Draymond Green almost certainly have a spot on the list.
Curry will likely rank in the top five while Green and Russell can range anywhere within the top 30. If Thompson was fully healthy, he would be right up there with D-Lo and Draymond. The sheer amount of talent on this roster is still shocking.
Last season, the Warriors had an unprecedented two players in the top five and a total of six players in the top 100. Former Warriors, Andre Iguodala and DeMarcus Cousins reached the list last season but failed to make the ranking this time around.
Of course, the sting of losing Kevin Durant in free agency still hurts. Luckily, the franchise has done a phenomenal job of building a competitive roster that will contend for titles long after Durant’s reign is over.
Not many teams in the league can contend with the Warriors star power. I assume only a few teams (if any) will have four members place in the top 50 of ESPN’s list. It’s possible that the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers will be the only other teams to join the Warriors.
What separates the Dubs from the rest of their competition is their experience. No other franchise has enjoyed more success in recent years than the Warriors. The championship culture set in place by Steve Kerr will carry this team far.
As we prepare for the 2019-20 NBA season, we can expect the Warriors to cause trouble in the Western Conference for other contending teams. It will be a fun season to be a Dubs fan.
