Golden State Warriors: 2019-20 NBA season is a fresh start to the dynasty
By Tony Pesta
The Golden State Warriors have a chance to breathe fresh air into their dynasty this season.
Sustaining success is the toughest thing a team/person can do. As Dr. Dre said, “anybody can get it, the hard part is keeping it.” For the Golden State Warriors, the 2019-20 NBA season will be a test to see whether or not they can keep the dynasty alive.
We all know the challenges that the Warriors are facing this season. The loss of Kevin Durant instantly puts a chip on the Dubs shoulders as they look to make KD regret his decision. Finding a way to win without their two-time Finals MVP will be difficult.
Meanwhile, a massive injury to Klay Thompson shakes up the formula that has made the franchise so successful in recent years. The Warriors will need to play a different style with both Thompson and Durant out of the lineup.
It seems that the Dubs are prepared for this challenge. Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr both expressed excitement for the season, saying this is a chance for the franchise to hit the reset button on a few things they have done wrong recently.
Golden State has an opportunity to return to their roots. An all-around team attack focused on ball movement is what propelled them to the top. They had gotten away from this style recently as Durant’s isolation scoring was too much to ignore.
The Dubs are in a good position to recreate the system that made them so deadly. D’Angelo Russell shows promising playmaking abilities. It will be a treat to watch him operate under the Dubs potent offense.
This season marks the beginning of a new era for the Warriors. Hopefully, it will be another season of success and high-level basketball. Expect to see a different, but a familiar brand of Warriors basketball.
