The Golden State Warriors have released Draymond Green’s official height and it may surprise you.
The NBA recently decided that each team must be required to report the actual heights of their players. This gave us the answer to a question that many Golden State Warriors fans had wondered, how tall is Draymond Green?
For years, Green has been listed at 6’7″. This has been his listed height since his rookie season and still stands as the height on his Draft Express profile. However, it is now certain that Green has been playing at 6’5″ for the entirety of his career.
This revelation is an impressive one. We all know that Green has been playing the center position as an undersized forward, but nobody realized he was six inches shorter than the league average for centers. In fact, Green is two inches short of the overall league average of 6’7″.
League Average Height by Position (2017/18 season)
- PG – 6’2″
- SG – 6’5″
- SF – 6’7″
- PF – 6’9″
- C – 7’1″
- Overall – 6’7″
Despite his lack of size, Green has been one of the best defenders in the league. He makes up for his height with great strength and a massive core. It’s tough to knock Green off of his center of gravity, giving him an advantage in the post.
Furthermore, his mind is his strongest attribute defensively. Green anticipates and reads the opponent frequently. This allows him to be one step ahead of the game at all-times. It is a big reason as to why he has been named to five All-Defensive teams and won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2017.
Like many other great defenders such as Dennis Rodman, Green has never let his height define him. He has beaten the odds in every way and become a legendary defender even with the disadvantage of being undersized. Green’s actual height is proof that he is a special breed.
