Dubs lack backcourt depth, boast frontcourt depth

The Warriors’ frontcourt may be injured right now, but they are short-term injuries, unlike Thompson’s torn ACL. As the roster stands, the team’s frontcourt is far deeper than their backcourt.

Two-way contract guard Ky Bowman and Stephen Curry, aside from Russell, are the only two traditional point guards on the roster. However, the team will start Russell at the two, leaving them with Jacob Evans III as the backup point guard.

With Jordan Poole behind Russell, the team brought in veteran Alec Burks to play the two as well. They also have two-way guard Damion Lee.

As for the team’s frontcourt, they have Kevon Looney and Willie Cauley-Stein at the five. They are also expected to waive or trade a player to make room for Marquese Chriss, who has had an exceptional training camp.

If the Warriors are three players deep at center, they aren’t going to be bringing in a fourth that isn’t light years better than Willie Cauley-Stein. It’s that simple.
