The Golden State Warriors’ former All-Star forward Draymond Green finally put together a dominant performance, triple doubling against the Pelicans.

Draymond Green turned it on for the Golden State Warriors. They needed him to thrive against a winless Pelicans, and that he did. This was a game the Warriors had to have to keep some hope alive in their squad. They’ve now 1-2.

Green ended the game with 16 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists.

He’ll have the opportunity to put this performance together on a nightly basis.

However, in his first two games this season, Green has scored 11 points and 10 points in their first and second outing respectively. He also, until last night, hadn’t put up ten or more rebounds or assists in a single game.

With this performance along with a crisp 7-for-12 from the field, Green showed that he’s a competent forward even without the other three All-Stars on the court like he had last season. But, it must be more than just a one-night showing.

This has to be the new Green that comes out each and ever night. They’ll need him to thrive as the Warriors starting small forward and center hardly gained any offseason attention, a sign that they weren’t highly sought after on the market.

This team doesn’t have the threats that they once had. They need Green to play at a high level. Now, they know that he can do it, and against the Suns on Wednesday, they’ll need Green back at this level to even their record.

He’s the heart and soul of this team. While Stephen Curry is the one they’re reliant on for scoring, Green is the emotional leader. He’s going to make things happen offensively and command the team defensively.

This is what the Warriors have gotten used to from the three-time All-Star. But, with three other All-Stars on the team, he hasn’t been able to shine with these monster triple-double lines. Now, they’ll need them more than ever.

And, for the first time this season, Green produced.
