Golden State Warriors two-time MVP Stephen Curry has broken his left hand after a hard fall on Wednesday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

The Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry for quite some time.

Already without Klay Thompson till at least March, the Golden State Warriors may have seen the last of their already slim playoff chances go out the door yesterday. The timeline for Stephen Curry’s return is unknown.

He will have further examination done tomorrow to figure out if his broken left hand will need surgery or not. Obviously, the best possible scenario for the Warriors is that he doesn’t need any surgery and a cast or brace could suffice.

Curry, who went in for a layup and full awkwardly under Aron Baynes, looked in excruciating pain when it happened so it was clear something was wrong. At that point, the Warriors were on the comeback trail after ending the first quarter down 29.

To the Phoenix Suns.

The lifeline of this team, Curry hasn’t played overly well to start the season, but he’s still the heartbeat of the offense. Without him, the Warriors will now turn to 2019 All-Star, D’Angelo Russell, for the bulk of the offensive playmaking.

It’s difficult to tell just how traumatizing this injury will be for Golden State mainly because we don’t know the timetable for Steph. What we do know is that, as it currently stands, tanking may not be the worst option.

It’s obviously not one for a prideful team or one with Draymond Green, but this Warriors team will not survive two months without Curry. They’re barely surviving now and would’ve been 1-3 had Curry been in the entire game anyway.

Tank, get a top-three pick, and come back after a restful offseason and dominate the Western Conference. It’s not the way the Warriors will go. It’s not the way fans want them to go, but it’s certainly something worth talking about.

That said, enjoy your night and let’s hope for the best news on Curry that’ll likely come in the next 24 hours. Curry, through the four games, was averaging 24 points, 6.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
