Stephen Curry’s injury will end Warriors playoff hopes

Stephen Curry has a broken hand and the Golden State Warriors can kiss their season goodbye.
The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty was already hanging in the balance when the 2019-20 NBA season started. A significant injury to Stephen Curry will be more than enough to close the door on the Dubs playoff hopes.
It hasn’t been a pretty start to the season. Back-to-back ugly losses to start the year, compounded by an embarrassing double-digit loss to the Phoenix Suns is nightmare fuel for Warriors fans.
Even so, the Warriors had the benefit of a two-time MVP on the roster. Curry’s averages of 24.0 points and 6.7 assists per game weren’t his best but they gave the Dubs a reason to have faith. At some point, you have to imagine the Warriors would pull it together.
Of course, we will never know now that Curry has broken his hand. This injury will hold Steph out for at least a few weeks, rendering the Dubs playoff hopes useless.
The Dubs have not been this vulnerable since before the 2014-15 NBA season. The five-time Western Conference champs are feeling the impact of losing Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.
With less depth than ever before, the Warriors can’t possibly replace the likes of Curry. The Warriors will have to focus on developing D’Angelo Russell and looking forward to the summer. A solid draft pick and a potentially big free agency class could fix everything.
It is unfortunate that injuries have played such a pivotal role in ending the Warriors dynasty, but after years of good fortune with injuries to opposing players, it isn’t that devastating.
Golden State has had the luxury of being the top dog in the NBA for five years. Now, it is time to come back to reality and focus on building for the next five years.
