The Golden State Warriors may be in tank mode with Stephen Curry injured, but they certainly aren’t trading any of their four All-Star-caliber players.

There’s no denying that this Golden State Warriors team isn’t the same one we’ve seen for the past half a decade. However, give it a year, and that franchise that fans have come to call “Dub Nation” will again be on top.

Although the Warriors may not perform well without Stephen Curry, they weren’t performing well with Curry. The team was 1-2 with Curry and they were already down 29 points to the Suns after the first quarter.

29 points. The Suns.

That’s the reality this team is facing, and now without Curry, it’ll be even worse. That said, say Curry misses 30 games after breaking his hand against Phoenix, it’s reasonable to believe this team may go just 7-23. That’s not too outlandish, and it could even be worse.

At that point, the Warriors may already be missing the playoffs. But, that doesn’t mean they’ll be trading their key pieces. When Klay Thompson returns, they’ll have D’Angelo Russell, Draymond Green, Thompson, and Curry.

That’s a championship-caliber roster. Thompson has that impact on a team, and he would be the one to elevate the Warriors back to championship status, obviously along with the other three and a high-value draft pick.

That said, it’s ridiculous to think that this team is going to trade any of their four core pieces. It’d be nearly impossible to deal the other Warriors, players like Willie Cauley-Stein and Glenn Robinson III, with the team’s contract situation the team it is.

Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen Draymond Green in a Portland jersey and D’Angelo Russell in a Timberwolves jersey. The Warriors don’t need those players if they can’t make a championship run this season.

At the end of the day, the Dubs might as well just forget this season, get a top pick, and become contenders again next season. For that to be their move, they need to keep their four key players moving forward.
