The 2019-20 NBA season is not hopeless for the Golden State Warriors.

Things aren’t exactly going that well for the Golden State Warriors. The sheer amount of significant injuries the roster has suffered from in the last few months is enough to derail any franchise.

The Warriors will be hurting for a long time without Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry. These two-star guards accounted for nearly 50 points per game last season and will be missed dearly by the team.

Meanwhile, Draymond Green‘s hand injury is less severe but will still have a profound impact on the Dubs. Without their defensive anchor and vocal leader, this young lineup has no direction.

Though the season seems to be burning in a dumpster fire, there are still some things the Warriors can look to accomplish.

Firstly, this is a prime time to develop D’Angelo Russell. The 23-year old All-Star has a chance to be the face of the franchise in the near future and allowing him to lead the team during this adversity is a great starting point for him.

Russell needs to become a more lethal scorer and capitalize on his talents as a playmaker. D-Lo is currently averaging 19.0 points and 6.4 assists per game but should be able to increase his usage with Curry sidelined for at least three months.

When Curry returns, the Warriors will look to acclimate their two-star guards. Giving Curry and Russell time to develop chemistry should be a huge goal for the franchise.

After a 1-4 start to the season and multiple injuries, it’s likely the Warriors will miss the postseason for the first time in over seven years. This means a shot at the number one pick in the 2020 NBA Draft is on the table for Golden State.

In the event that the Dubs land a solid spot in the lottery, they can use it to trade for more assets or double down on their young core. Regardless, their pick will be incredibly valuable.

Finding a way to keep the franchise from falling apart this season is important. By next season, the Warriors may be title contenders again if everything goes to plan.
