The Golden State Warriors are now D’Angelo Russell’s team, and it’ll help his value around a team that’ll give him unlimited opportunity.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t one of the league’s premier teams this season yet on their roster is enough talent to get to the NBA Finals. Sadly, they just aren’t healthy, and that’s just how the cookie crumbles. You can’t win them all.

The Warriors playoffs aspirations may be cooked, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few positives that’ll come to light this season. One of them has already come to light with the explosion of second-round pick Eric Paschall.

Paschall has scored ten or more points in six of the team’s eight games. He’s been a silver lining to this otherwise sad season. Like Paschall, D’Angelo Russell, especially his play in last night’s thriller, has been awing.

He’ll have all the opportunity in the world to come into the Bay area and thrive especially without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green out and both without a clear return date. That said, he put that opportunity on full display last night against the Timberwolves.

Russell put up a career-high 52 points. The Warriors lost, but Russell went off. That’s just a reality D-Lo will be facing that, even when he’s outstanding, it’ll be tough to compete against even the West’s weaker opponents.

That is also what will allow Russell to boost his stock. An all-star last year, Russell averaged 21.1 points per game in his final year with the Nets. Now in Golden State, because of that offensive onslaught against the Wolves, he’s averaging 24.5 points per game.

When the time comes, because of the opportunity to lead the Warriors, he’ll either help their quest towards a title next year or he’ll allow them more leverage when it comes to if they want to trade him in the next few months.

Either way, Russell is bound for yet another career-year with the Warriors.
