The Golden State Warriors need help and Andre Drummond might be their best option.

The 2019-20 NBA season has been less than ideal for the Golden State Warriors. Losing Kevin Durant has proven to be the least of their worries as injuries to Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have rendered their season hopeless.

While D’Angelo Russell has shined in brief spurts, scoring a career-high 52 points versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, it’s clear the Warriors don’t have enough supporting talent to compete for a title this year.

In fact, the Dubs aren’t talented enough to even battle for a playoff spot. Through 10 games, the Warriors have the worst record in the league for the first time in over a decade.

Although this season may be a waste in terms of competitiveness, the Dubs can bounce back strong next year. With a healthy core of Curry, Thompson, Green and Russell, the Warriors are one star away from being dominant again.

It is unlikely the Dubs will ever luck into a superstar talent like Kevin Durant ever again. A player as special as KD only comes once in a lifetime and the Warriors would be silly to bank on landing another talent like that so soon.

Instead, the Dubs should set their sights a little lower. Andre Drummond may be the perfect fit.

Drummond is a two-time All-Star and has been balling for the Detroit Pistons lately. In 10 games, Drummond is averaging 21.1 points, 18.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. He is a beast in the paint and would be the first dominant big-man the Dubs have had in years.

Currently, the Dubs rank 21st in the league for rebounding. Adding Drummond would patch this deficiency up instantly. Furthermore, Drummond has improved greatly as a scorer and would thrive in pick-and-rolls with Russell.

The price to acquire Drummond shouldn’t be too high. A valuable draft pick might be enough to snag him off the rebuilding Pistons. This is a move the Warriors have to consider.
