The Golden State Warriors have reached rock bottom with a league-worst 3-13 record.

This Golden State Warriors team feels like a far cry from the squad that reached five consecutive NBA Finals. A 48 point loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night marks the franchise’s lowest point of the decade.

The Mavericks didn’t just beat the Warriors, they embarrassed them. Sophomore sensation and potential MVP candidate, Luka Doncic, erupted for 35 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes. This was the fasted 30+ point triple-double in league history.

Doncic also became only the second player in NBA history to rack up more points, assists and rebounds than an opposing team in a single quarter. Allen Iverson is the only other player to accomplish this feat.

Safe to say, this was a wake-up call for the Dubs. In years prior, an otherworldly performance from an opponent meant nothing as the Warriors coasted to victory in the face of plenty of great individuals. LeBron James‘ historic 51 points that were wasted in a loss to the Dubs comes to mind as one example.

The end of an era is officially upon us. After spending half of the decade at the top of the NBA mountain, the Warriors have hit the lowest of lows. This very well may be the lowest point of the decade for Golden State.

The Warriors’ worst season of the 2010s came early in the decade. Winning just 23 games in the 2010-11 season, the Warriors went on to win 50+ games in six of the next seven seasons.

Though the 2011 season was lackluster, it has nothing on the current season the Warriors are facing. This year, the Dubs are on pace for about 15 wins. If this is the case, the Warriors will have recorded the biggest drop in a single-season win percentage of all-time.

It is astonishing how quickly the Dubs dynasty crumbled to ashes. The onslaught of injuries feels never-ending as opposing teams continue to take advantage of this reeling franchise. Hopefully, a bounce-back season is in the works with Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry in recovery.
