This is far from the season that the Golden State Warriors were hoping for.

The 2019-20 NBA season has been a trainwreck for the Golden State Warriors. An unbelievable amount of injuries have left the team with just eight active players on the roster.

As a result, the squad is reeling. Multiple blowout losses have compounded into a league-worst 3-15 record. For the first time in nearly a decade, the Warriors rank in bottom 10 for points per game.

Obviously, the Warriors were hoping for a more productive season. Beginning the year with a healthy core of D’Angelo Russell, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green seemed like enough to keep them competitive deep into the postseason.

Within five games, this hope was destroyed. All it took was one significant injury to Curry to slam the door shut on any title aspirations.

Though the Warriors are at the bottom of the league standings they are far from rock bottom. Things could be much worse for this franchise.

Coming off of five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals this is a brutal setback. However, this season can be seen as a blessing in disguise for many reasons.

For starters, the Warriors stars are getting a much-needed rest. Klay Thompson, Curry and Green have had amazing luck over the last five seasons in terms of health. Their run was never going to be sustainable and a year off for Curry and Thompson will do them wonders in the long term.

Meanwhile, the Warriors’ young core has stepped up to make an impressive impression. Eric Paschall is in the top three for rookie scoring while Jordan Poole, Ky Bowman and Damion Lee have proven themselves as valuable assets moving forward.

Above all else, the Dubs are securing top odds at winning the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. This pick could end up being the reset button for a squandering dynasty.

Overall, the Warriors could be in a worse situation. They should be thankful for the young players who are stepping up, the rest that their stars are receiving and the chance of landing the No. 1 pick this summer.
