It’s time for the Golden State Warriors to throw in the towel on the 2019-20 NBA season.

The 2019-20 NBA season was over before it started for the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors were already facing a ton of adversity with the loss of some big-name free agents over the offseason. Their issues were only made worse by significant injuries to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Thompson is still recovering from Game 6 of the NBA Finals when he tore his ACL on a fast break. This injury is set to keep Thompson out until at least February.

Meanwhile, Curry suffered a fractured left hand only a few games into the season. This put an end to any hopes of a third MVP season for Curry as he will be reevaluated in the upcoming months.

The team has struggled mightily without the splash brothers. The Dubs stand with the worst record in the league at 4-15 behind lackluster franchises such as the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

It hasn’t been all bad for the Dubs. A few players have stepped up and proven themselves as worthy assets to the team. Eric Paschall is one of the leading rookie scorers while D’Angelo Russell showed promise before suffering a minor injury.

Even so, the Warriors should close the door on any hopes of a playoff berth. Furthermore, it may be best if the team shuts Curry and Thompson down for the remainder of the season.

Giving these two stars a chance to fully recover from a grueling five-year stretch in which they reached the NBA Finals each season is important. Very few athletes are capable of performing at such a high level for this length of time. Curry and Thompson must put their health first.

Sure, it would be great for the Warriors to build chemistry in the final months of the season. However, chemistry likely won’t be an issue for this group of selfless stars. Health should be the top priority.
