The Golden State Warriors, once they can trade D’Angelo Russell on December 15, should take in offers, regardless if they’d accept them or not.

There’s no denying the Golden State Warriors season hasn’t gone as planned. With the worst record in the league, it’s obvious this isn’t the start they wanted. However, without Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, what can you expect?

D’Angelo Russell is good; he’s All-Star-caliber good. But, in a difficult and deep Western Conference, Russell isn’t capable of spearheading a team to the playoffs. There are far too many quality teams in the West.

That means the Warriors, who won’t be seeing Curry return until February, might as well go ahead and prepare for next year. Without any intention of trading Russell, they’ll only plan to deal him if they think it’s in their best long-term interest.

Since his arrival in the Bay, a few new developments have come to fruition.

For starters, Eric Paschall, one of the team’s two second-round picks, has exploded onto the scene. He’s one of the league’s best rookies. Secondly, the Warriors are so bad they’re theoretically guaranteed a top-three pick.

Those two could be the future of the Warriors, and they’d then have no need for Russell to be their sole supplier of offense for the distant future. That said, if they do plan to trade him, here are five deals they should consider.
