The Golden State Warriors should view the Minnesota Timberwolves as potential trading partners.

D’Angelo Russell will have to grow accustomed to trade rumors now that he is with the Golden State Warriors.

Though the Dubs have refrained from making any major trades within the last few years, it’s entirely possible that Russell could be shipped if the right opportunity presents itself.

As of now, it seems the Warriors have no intention of trading Russell. This makes sense as the young All-Star has barely had a chance to leave his mark on the team thus far. The franchise still wants to see how D-Lo will fit with a fully healthy roster around him.

However, if the Minnesota Timberwolves are truly interested in trading for D-Lo as Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported, then the Warriors may have to reconsider their plans.

Imagine a scenario in which the Dubs are able to snag Andrew Wiggins and Robert Covington in return for Russell. If this is possible, the Warriors would absolutely have to pull the trigger on this deal.

Wiggins is averaging a career-high 24.6 points per game and has been proving all of his doubters wrong. He would be a much better fit alongside the rest of the Warriors crew as his size and athleticism make him versatile enough to play the small forward position.

As for Covington, he is still one of the game’s most effective 3-and-D players. His two-way play would be a welcomed addition to the Warriors lineup.

Of course, there is no telling what the Warriors will be able to acquire from Minnesota. It would take some serious work from the Dubs front office to haul in a reasonable package in this situation.

Shipping Russell so early would feel like a questionable decision but it may end up being the Warriors’ best option.
