The Golden State Warriors lost, at home, to the New York Knicks. Yes, you’re reading this correctly, and it’s a new low for this embarrassing season.

There’s no denying that this season hasn’t gone exactly as planned for the Golden State Warriors.

The original idea was that without Klay Thompson the Warriors would still be playoff contenders and wait for his return to finally put together a title-contending roster. Even in a deeper West, Stephen Curry, D’Angelo Russell and Draymond Green would’ve been enough firepower to make it work.

The addition and ensuing eruption of Eric Paschall and Alec Burks have helped the Warriors stay competitive in most games. However, it’s still not enough as the Warriors continue to lose and are among the worst teams in the West, sitting at 5-21.

Curry’s injury in the fourth game of the season can be used as an excuse, but losing to the then-league-worst Knicks at home has no excuse. The Warriors lost to the Knicks by two points at home in overtime.

They allowed Marcus Morris to put up 36 points. One more bucket for the veteran and he would’ve had a career-high against the Warriors.

D’Angelo Russell’s 32 points weren’t enough to help lead the comeback that was made by Golden State after a double-figure halftime deficit.

The Warriors should be better.

A D’Angelo Russell-led team should be able to care of business at home. Coming into the game, it was a 4-20 team against a 5-20 one. This wasn’t going to be pretty either way, but the Warriors should’ve come out on top.

It feels like this loss will set the tone for the rest of the season which isn’t ideal. The Warriors know the West is brutal, and it’s understandable that they struggle with even the worst teams in the conference.

However, against the worst team in the East, the Dubs should’ve had a chip on their shoulders and come out confident.

This was an embarrassing loss, and the Dubs need more from their veterans moving forward.
