The Golden State Warriors need more consistency from second-round pick Eric Paschall who has struggled mightily the last few games.
Eric Paschall has been one of the several silver linings throughout a rather forgettable season for the Golden State Warriors. At the bottom of the West, the Warriors need to be working on developing their young talent.
Paschall is one of those young talents.
The 23-year-old spent five years at the collegiate level so he’s actually the same age as D’Angelo Russell. That said, it’s understandable to ask a few things of Paschall that you’d be hard-pressed to get out of Jordan Poole.
Consistency is one of those things.
The Warriors need Paschall to be more consistent. Over his last two games, Paschall put up a combined ten points, shooting 4-for-16. While he hasn’t played in the Warriors last two outings, his play has trended down since a dynamic start to the season.
A bulk of Paschall’s success also can be put on head coach Steve Kerr. The power forward has scored in double figures every outing in which he’s played at least 30 minutes. However, when he’s under 30, Paschall just isn’t the same player.
When he doesn’t notch 30 minutes, Paschall has failed to reach ten points in five of the nine games. That’s a good thing to note so it’s clear that Paschall’s play doesn’t fluctuate that much but rather his minutes can.
Over his last seven, Paschall has averaged under 14 points per game after putting up over 17 per game to start the season. He’s good, and he’s shown a versatility that’s been unmatched among second-round rookies.
For Golden State to win, they’ll need more from him.
When Draymond Green and D’Angelo Russell were out, Paschall cemented himself as one of the Warriors’ offensive leaders. With those two back, that same play needs to come from the former Villanova big.
The Warriors have a mere five wins and have no reason to play Paschall under 30 minutes on each and every night.
