There is no reason for the Golden State Warriors to rush a trade involving D’Angelo Russell.

D’Angelo Russell is one of the most valuable assets the Golden State Warriors currently posses.

A young All-Star averaging career-highs in back-to-back seasons, Russell has a bright future in the NBA. If given the proper guidance, D-Lo could become the next leader of the Warriors, following Stephen Curry‘s path to greatness.

These are hefty expectations for a player who has only had one truly successful season. However, with the way Russell has been developing, there is a reason to believe he can become a superstar talent one day.

Russell ranks towards the top of the league in creation out of the pick-and-roll. Few guards have his vision and playmaking ability. Once he is surrounded by more talent such as Curry and Klay Thompson, we could easily see Russell’s average double-digit assists.

Sadly, we haven’t had a chance to watch D-Lo pair up with the splash brothers as injuries have held both of them out for extended periods of time. This is one major reason as to why the Dubs should avoid trading Russell before the end of the season.

To keep it simple, the Warriors don’t know what they have in Russell. Until they are able to see him play alongside their original big three, there is no telling how productive D-Lo can become.

Furthermore, the Warriors are likely to receive a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Because of this, the franchise should hold off on trading Russell before the deadline as a valuable lottery pick could sweeten up any potential trades.

The Warriors have made it clear they aren’t planning on trading Russell yet. If we had to guess, the Warriors are waiting for the summer to begin shopping the trade block for D-Lo.
