The Golden State Warriors are anxiously waiting to watch D’Angelo Russell and Stephen Curry play together.
Stephen Curry and D’Angelo Russell are set to become one of the league’s best backcourt partners with the Golden State Warriors.
Curry and Russell played briefly together at the start of the season before Curry fell with a broken left hand. The two struggled early to mesh together but there is no doubt that they have great potential.
In the game before Curry’s injury, he and Russell combined for 50 points and 19 assists in a big victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. This was just a small sample of what they are capable of.
We already know how deadly Curry can be. The two-time MVP has elevated his name into legendary status and will go down as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
As for Russell, he has a lot to prove at 23 years of age. Last season was his first All-Star campaign and he has steadily improved each year. He is currently averaging a career-high 21.9 points per game.
Curry’s return is on the horizon. It seems he has taken another step forward in his rehabilitation process and will be re-evaluated in February. Once he returns to the lineup, he and D-Lo will get right to work at becoming a star duo.
Russell’s primary skill is being a playmaker. He has exceptional vision and is instinctively a pass-first player.
The Warriors will not shy away from allowing Russell to handle the ball while Curry focuses on getting himself open. This will give Curry the freedom to shoot the ball as much as he wants without having to worry about running the offense for his teammates.
An unleashed Curry could be trouble for the rest of the NBA. He has shown the ability to be incredibly efficient at high usage. Paired alongside Russell, we may see Curry play at his best.
