The Golden State Warriors have struggled offensively, and they need three-time All-Star Draymond Green to step up on that end.

The Golden State Warriors are on their longest win streak of the season. Two games. It’s a two-game win streak after a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday and another one over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night.

It’s been a brutal season for the Warriors.

They are 7-24, and three-time All-Star Draymond Green hasn’t helped that much. Green is averaging 9.0 points per game, and he’s struggling to find his rhythm without the spacing that used to be provided by Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

Sadly, Green, in the games he’d played in, has more single-digit games than double-digit ones. The absence of Kevin Durant was supposed to spike Green’s performances back up to those that the Dubs were used to in the 2014-2015 season.

It hasn’t though.

Green is notching 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game. Both the rebounds and assists are his lowest totals since his second season in the NBA, and the Dubs need more from their forward.

Things must change.

D’Angelo Russell has returned from injury, and he’s been terrific. He’s been captaining this offseason in a way that Green should. While Green isn’t the scorer that Russell is, he should be the ignition to the team on both ends of the court.

It just hasn’t been that way this season, and the seven-win Warriors need someone to light a spark under Green. Somehow Green is shooting worse from downtown than he did last season, making just 27.5% of his shots from deep.

Green was often an afterthought last season.

Now, somehow, Green is taking his game to an even lower level, and it’s been difficult to watch. For the Dubs to stand a chance against Houston on primetime, Christmas Day television, they need Green to shine.

It starts with his assertiveness, and they need him to get back to the level they’ve seen him at.
