The Golden State Warriors are eagerly awaiting Klay Thompson’s return.

Klay Thompson appears to be making strides in his rehabilitation process for the Golden State Warriors.

It has been six months since Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. A devastating injury that halted a 30 point performance from Klay and a potential 3-1 comeback for the ages.

After nearly remaining on the floor following his injury, Thompson has been sidelined indefinitely. His absence, along with the loss of Kevin Durant and a broken hand to Stephen Curry, has left the Warriors roster decimated.

Without three of their former best players, the Dubs sit at the bottom of the league standings and have their eyes set on the NBA Draft Lottery.

Recently, Thompson was seen in his entire Warriors uniform shooting 3-pointers. Though he hasn’t had any physical contact in his practice, this is a promising sign for the five-time All-Star who was predicted to miss the entire season in recovery.

Thompson’s potential return won’t help the Warriors too much this season. Even with a healthy Curry and Thompson, the team’s 9-25 record is a hole that they likely won’t dig themselves out of.

However, there is a benefit to playing Thompson towards the end of the season. For starters, it’s important to help Thompson get back into the swing of things before embarking on another title run. Missing multiple months of NBA level basketball is hard to recover from and Thompson will need an adjustment period.

Furthermore, Thompson needs to become acclimated to the rest of the roster. This is a very different team than the 2018-19 squad that reached the NBA Finals. Building chemistry with the new lineup and figuring out what works best with his teammates is a critical goal for Thompson.

There is still no telling how far away Thompson’s return to the court is but hopefully, this is a good sign.
