The Golden State Warriors are celebrating the New Year by transitioning into a new era

The 2010s brought much success for the Golden State Warriors. Spending half of the decade as an unstoppable powerhouse is certainly a great way to be remembered.

From 2014 to 2019, the Dubs reached five consecutive NBA Finals and won three of them. The franchise witnessed unbelievable performances from stars such as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

Furthermore, role players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston solidified themselves into Warriors history as some of the most important bench players the franchise ever had.

Now, as we enter the new year and another decade, the Warriors must brace for drastic changes. The roster has already been stripped to its core with only Curry, Green and Thompson remaining. With the original big three only getting older it is time to welcome a new era of Dubs basketball sooner rather than later.

Who will carry the torch moving forward? It could be D’Angelo Russell, the young gunner who is steadily rising as an elite scorer and playmaker. Russell is making strides each season and is only a few more developments away from becoming a legit star.

Meanwhile, breakout rookie Eric Paschall is making a strong case to be a longterm member of the franchise. The late draft pick is averaging 14.7 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Most importantly, the Warriors will secure some of the best odds in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. The outcome of this pick will have the biggest impact on the franchise. A potential cornerstone could be selected or used as trade bait.
