Two members of the Golden State Warriors were featured in the NBA’s first All-Star voting returns.

Both D’Angelo Russell and Stephen Curry netted enough All-Star votes to be in the top 10 for Western Conference guards. Will either member of the Golden State Warriors reach the All-Star game?

Curry’s popularity is on full display here considering the two-time MVP has played in just four games this season and still received the fourth most All-Star votes for his position. There is no doubt that the league loves Curry.

As for Russell, he has taken another step forward in his development following a breakout season with the Brooklyn Nets. Russell earned his first All-Star nod last season after an injury reserve spot was opened up for the young guard.

The Warriors have had a minimum of two All-Stars each season since the 2014-15 NBA season. Due to the loss of Kevin Durant, injuries to Klay Thompson and Curry, plus an underwhelming season from Draymond Green, the Warriors may miss out on All-Star weekend entirely.

Truly, only Russell deserves a shot at reaching the game. The 23-year-old is averaging a career-best 23.2 points and 6.4 assists. He has carried the Warriors at times and is in the top four for clutch points per game.

Sadly, the Warriors’ poor record of 9-26 may be too much to overcome for Russell. If the fans do not vote him into the starting lineup, which seems unlikely, there is little chance the NBA deems him worthy of a reserve spot.

As for Curry, there is a chance he won’t be able to play in the game even if he is voted into the starting five. The three-time champ is still recovering from a hand injury and has yet to be reevaluated.

The Warriors will have to sit out of this All-Star weekend but will surely be back next season with a healthy lineup.
