Al Horford would be a perfect fit for the Golden State Warriors.

During the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline, we may see the Golden State Warriors become active for the first time in a very long time.

The Warriors have avoided tinkering with their lineup much since their first championship run in 2015. Rather than potentially ruining a good thing, the Warriors continued to run it back for as long as they could.

That was up until this summer when everything fell apart for the Dubs. As Kevin Durant made his decision to leave in free agency, a number of other veteran players were disbanded in a last-second attempt to keep the franchise relevant.

Of course, injuries to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson sealed the Warriors fate this season. Despite their best efforts, the team is at the bottom of the league standings.

The Warriors are fortunate enough to have expendable assets that can be flipped for other star players. D’Angelo Russell, Draymond Green and the 2020 NBA Draft pick are a few assets that could be traded at some point in the near future.

If a trade is made, the Warriors should target Al Horford as a potential acquisition. The veteran big man is one of the most solid players in the league and could benefit this team greatly.

Horford is an experienced player who has been deep in the playoffs before. His presence would be a welcomed sight for a team stacked with young prospects.

Furthermore, Horford is still a highly effective player. He is averaging 12.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in a weird situation with the Philadelphia 76ers. Their team seems to be built in a way that isn’t setting anybody up for success and Horford has expressed his frustration regarding his role with the squad.

Adding Horford to the Warriors brings a ton of versatility. Horford is a great playmaker from the top of the key and is reliable as a shooter. Throwing him into the lineup would make the Warriors a deadly offensive team once again.

He is also a timely defender. At 33 years of age, Horford understands where he needs to be on the defensive end and has used his height to block at least 1 shot per game in each of the last 12 seasons.

If the Warriors can acquire Horford they should absolutely consider it. Having Horford anchor the Dubs frontcourt can put them back into title contention.
