The Golden State Warriors’ veteran forward Glenn Robinson III has been terrific lately, increasing his trade value over the last few weeks.
With no cap space this previous offseason after signing Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and D’Angelo Russell to max-value contracts or extensions, the Golden State Warriors looked for cheap contracts to add, mainly veterans players with little market.
Then, they found Glenn Robinson III and Alec Burks, two players that are both setting career-highs in their time with the Warriors. Both players are easily going to be on the trade market with extremely team-friendly contracts.
This has been the first time in the two forward’s careers that they’ve had a true chance to be in the spotlight for an organization. Robinson III is making the most of his chance and has stepped up in a big way.
While the Warriors still only have nine victories, they’ve seen these two veterans increase their value tremendously. Robinson, for starters, is hitting stride at the right time, averaging double figures for the first time in his career.
The two-way forward isn’t just scoring at a career pace, but he’s doing it effectively. On the season, he’s posting 12.2 points on 46% from the field and 1.3 threes per game on 40% from downtown.
While those are impressive, Robinson has taken his game to the next level lately. Over his last five games, Robinson is averaging 15.8 points on 49% shooting and 1.4 threes on 46.7% from downtown.
He’s been the catalyst for this team’s offense over the last few outings, scoring 25 points against the Spurs a few nights ago.
When looking to add depth this offseason, Robinson III’s addition wasn’t one that was heavily loved by Dub Nation. He hadn’t seen much success in Detriot or Indiana, and fans just weren’t hopeful he’d have success with the Warriors.
He’s re-written that script.
Now, as the trade deadline starts to heat up, the Warriors are clearly out of the playoff picture. They just haven’t been able to win games this season without Thompson or Curry. That’s understood.
With Robinson III becoming more of a threat and on a one-year team-friendly contract, expect his trade value to continually increase for the next few weeks as the trade market starts to heat up.
