Superstar point guard D’Angelo Russell, the Golden State Warriors blockbuster offseason addition, wants to make Golden State his permanent home.

It’s been a wild first five years in the NBA for D’Angelo Russell. He’s been pushed around from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets and now recently agreed to a sign-and-trade which included him signing a four-year max-value contract with the Golden State Warriors this past offseason.

While he’s done absolutely nothing to bring the rumors are, Russell is going to be the epicenter around numerous trade talks in the coming weeks. It’s mainly due to how he’s perceived to fit alongside Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

That’s given media an excuse to draft trades, and some of the ideology is reasonable. However, if you ask Russell, he doesn’t want to continue to move around the league like an unwanted guard just looking for a true NBA home.

Russell is quite the opposite.

A 2019 All-star, Russell is averaging a career-high 23.2 points per game. He’s taken his game to the next level so often that teams find value in trading him. It doesn’t appear that will be Golden State’s motto for the 23-year-old star.

If one thing is for sure, it’s that Russell, the NBA journeyman, wants to stay in the Bay for the tenure of his contract.

“I would love for this to be home. I have a four-year contract. I would love to be here even three years. That would set my record,” Russell told The Mercury News’ Wes Goldberg.

Russell’s finally found his NBA home.

Like they’ve done with Curry and Thompson, the Warriors keep their talent until there’s no other option as with Kevin Durant. There’s reason to hear out trade requests for the guard but expect Russell in Golden State for quite a while.

For both the Warriors diehard fan base and for Russell, the news of him wanting to stay in the Bay should be encouraging. Now, let’s just hope he can attract fellow superstar Karl-Anthony Towns to California.
