2. Trading with Houston and Detroit

The Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets feel as if they are reaching a dead-end with their current rosters. Here is how the Warriors can take advantage of their desperation.

For the Warriors:

Gaining an elite rebounder and defender in Andre Drummond is a no brainer for the Warriors. They have not had a big-man presence in nearly five years and would love to acquire a guy who is averaging 17.5 points, 15.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.

Throwing in Luke Kennard and Ben McLemore makes this a reasonable trade for the Dubs. Kennard shoots nearly 40 percent from deep while McLemore ranks in the top 20 for total 3-pointers this season.

For the Rockets:

It’s clear that Russell Westbrook and James Harden do not fit together anymore. A better shooter and playmaker in D’Angelo Russell could resolve this issue. Meanwhile, players such as Alec Burks, Tony Snell and Kevon Looney bring much-needed depth to the Rockets championship hopes.

For the Pistons:

The Pistons understand that it’s time to blow it up. Though acquiring Westbrook isn’t conducive to rebuilding, it is a price they must pay to snag two first-round picks from Houston and Golden State. In particular, the Warriors pick could become the top pick in the upcoming draft.
