Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have a serious shot in a top-heavy Eastern Conference. They’re already one of the conference’s best teams, and they could get even better by tossing a first-round pick at Golden State for Burks.

The Celtics bench, though, is among the worst in the league. While Marcus Smart is the second unit’s main contributor, they could use more than just Smart who averages 11.4 points per game on 36% shooting.

Burks could come in and be that spark off the bench. Currently, they have Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams at the three and four behind Gordon Hayward and Jayson Tatum. Burks could be an upgrade over both players.

At the very least, Burks could give the Celtics a consistent outside shooter. To make matters even better, Burks could cost virtually nothing for Boston who could likely add him without really being forced to clear salary.

With Kemba under contract for the long-term future, the Celtics shouldn’t put much stock into their 2022 first-round pick, a selection that’ll likely be at the bottom of the round. That’s why trading the pick for Burks shouldn’t be out of the question.
