Golden State Warriors: The blueprint for signing Giannis Antetokounmpo
By Tony Pesta
1. Bucks must fail
Above all else, the Golden State Warriors need to show that they can offer a better chance to win than any other team. For this to happen, the Milwaukee Bucks need to fail.
Nothing forces a star player out of a team more than a frustrating series of losses. The Bucks have already experienced this once when they dropped four straight games to the Toronto Raptors last season despite finishing with the best regular-season record in the league.
This year, the Bucks have once again jumped out to a league-best 33-6 record. Antetokounmpo is running away with the MVP award, averaging 30.2 points, 12.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks.
If the Bucks are upset in the playoffs once again, disappointment will begin to build up. One more failure next season will be all it takes to send Giannis running out the door. The pressure is on Milwaukee to surround Giannis with enough talent to bring home a championship.
The Warriors’ best chance of signing Giannis is to hope the Bucks are unable to capitalize on his historic talent.
