The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly have an interest in Golden State Warriors’ veteran forward Glenn Robinson III.

The Golden State Warriors are in a position where their best option is to auction off their veterans with expiring contracts. It’s likely that they’ve been looking at deals that include trading both Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III.

For now, we don’t know who a potential suitor for Burks would be, but we do know that the Philadelphia 76ers, a top contender in the East, are looking at Glenn Robinson III. Robinson III is on a veteran’s minimum contract, making him even more valuable.

Robinson, after not getting off to a strong start in his first half a decade, has thrived with Golden State. He’s averaging a career-high 12.3 points per game and is shooting 39.4% from downtown, something the Sixers desperately need.

The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reported that the Sixers have expressed “interest” in several wings, one of which was Robinson III.

"“The Sixers have expressed interest in a long list of wings, including Malik Beasley (Nuggets), Glenn Robinson III (Warriors), Davis Bertans (Wizards), E’Twaun Moore (Pelicans), and Andre Iguodala (Grizzlies), according to multiple league sources.”"

The Sixers have the firepower to be the best team in the Eastern Conference. With Al Horford, Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons, and Josh Richardson, this team should be better than they are.

It’s been a discouraging season so far, and with former Sixer legend Elton Brand leading the charge, the Sixers must find a way to enhance their roster. Robinson III, who would bring efficient scoring and high-quality defense, would be a quintessential addition.

For Golden State, there’s no reason to hang onto Robinson. One of just two teams in the NBA with single-digit victories, the Warriors season is already over. They aren’t reaching the playoffs, and if they want Robinson back, they can talk to him this offseason.

Get a few draft picks, keep the relationship strong, and hopefully look to bring him back next year. It’s potentially the same thing they may do with Andre Iguodala after shipping him away this past offseason to clear cap space for D’Angelo Russell.
