Alec Burks

Alec Burks will be a hot name in the coming weeks.

He signed with Golden State for one year and was expected to be one of the better sixth men on a championship-contending team. That didn’t work out, and with the extra opportunity he’s been given, Burks has produced career highs in most trackable stats.

Averaging 15.9 points per game, Burks is more impressive making a career-high 1.6 threes per game. Being an outside threat as well as a quality scorer is exactly what contending teams should look for to fill out their bench.

The Celtics could use that type of energy on their second unit, one of the league’s worst. They have the third-worst scoring bench in the NBA, and Marcus Smart is really the only notable name on that bench.

Burks could give the Celtics something they should crave. Depth, especially with Jaylen Brown, a player that’s gone through multiple slumps throughout his career, could prove beneficial for a long playoff run.

A first-round pick, that will ultimately be one of the worst in the first round, is something they should consider. Both teams should be interested in this trade.
