The Golden State Warriors are going to be active in a trade market that will heavily favor sellers with multiple teams potentially looking to buy.

Days before the NBA trade deadline, the league goes through a period of stress where no one knows who will be calling when they pick up the phone. The Golden State Warriors have been there the past five seasons.

It’s a supply and demand, and the players as oftentimes the casualties.

For the Golden State Warriors, this will be the first time in quite a while that they’ll be sellers, not buyers. That’s important since in previous years they’ve looked to upgrade their roster in the last few weeks prior to the deadline.

Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson III, Willie Cauley-Stein, Jacob Evans III, D’Angelo Russell, Draymond Green and just about everyone not named Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson could be potentially shipped.

While it’s highly unlikely, no one will be saved if the Timberwolves call with an unhappy Karl-Anthony Towns on the line. But, since that is virtually out of the question, reality says that a few players, like Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III, may be moved.

With the 8th seed still up in the air for most West teams outside of Golden State and the 8th seed in the East just about possible for any team, there aren’t many teams looking to decrease the skill on their roster like Golden State.

At the very least, the New York Knicks and maybe Atlanta Hawks could be two other top-notch sellers yet don’t have the quality veterans like Golden State.

However, there will be several buyers looking to improve their roster, helping increase the demand for a player like Burks who is having the best season of his career.

Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, and every other team that feels they have a legit shot at the Larry O’Brien trophy will be searching for ways to enhance their top eight players.

That means, with supply and demand in mind, if these franchises are calling, the Warriors may be able to increase the value for Burks, potentially securing a first-round pick for the forward on the veteran’s minimum contract.

Only time will tell, but this year, it’s certainly a seller’s market.
