The Blockbuster

This is the blockbuster that Warrior fans should want to see happen, but in all reality, both teams are planning to place their best offers in order to lure the other team’s star. The Wolves want to snag Russell without giving up Karl-Anthony Towns, their most valuable trading chip.

KAT has been putting up unreal numbers this season. He’s averaging a career-high 26.5 points per game. It’s not just his scoring though as he’s also notching almost five assists per game, showing an aptitude as a playmaker as well.

Under contract for the next four seasons, KAT would slide in as the Warriors’ best young player. Adding him to the roster would unquestionably force the Warriors into giving up their 2020 first-round pick which could turn out to be the draft’s top-overall selection.

While KAT is worth it and this trade seems fair for both franchises, it still seems unlikely the Wolves value Russell enough to be on the unlucky end of the 2-for-1. Russell is good, but he’s not on the same level as Karl-Anthony Towns.
