The Golden State Warriors are expecting an early March return for Stephen Curry, one of the league’s best players over the last half a decade.

In their current state, the Golden State Warriors are one of the worst teams in the NBA. They’re at the very least the worst team in the Western Conference. However, it may not be that way for too much longer.

Stephen Curry, who broke his left hand after a collision with Aron Baynes in the fourth game of the season, is set to return in early March. The two-time MVP had little impact on the team prior to his injury yet could help resurrect Dub Nation in the near future.

As for his return date, it’s been more specifically set for March 1, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson. Still over a month away, Curry’s tentative return date is at home against the Washington Wizards.

Sadly, by that time, the Warriors may have to ask themselves if it’s worth putting Curry in high-usage situations. They may rather look towards the future as Klay Thompson and Curry could both get much-needed rest while also locking up a top-five pick.

It’s obviously ideal for the Warriors to be in the playoffs for yet another season. After all, with the brand new Chase Center opening, the hope was that Curry and D’Angelo Russell could lead the team while Thompson was rehabbing and preparing for the playoff run.

That wasn’t how the season went, and now, they may need to focus on the future. However, it’s obvious that Curry is expected to play this season so the two-time MVP should grace the Chase Center at least a few times before the season’s end.

It’s obviously important to win, but the Warriors must do what’s best for their future.
