The Golden State Warriors should be in no rush to trade Alec Burks.

Alec Burks has been the number one name thrown around in trade rumors for the Golden State Warriors. Nonetheless, the Warriors may be better off holding on to Burks as he could become incredibly valuable next season.

This season hasn’t been a complete throwaway for the Dubs. Despite their awful record, this has been a chance to see which players fit with the team moving forward. The franchise has every reason to believe they will be back competing for championships within a year.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will both be back in the lineup come next fall. Add a budding star in D’Angelo Russell and the former Defensive Player of the Year, Draymond Green, and the Warriors are a strong supporting cast away from being title favorites.

Perhaps their strongest supporting member at the moment is Burks. The eight-year veteran is averaging a career-high 16.2 points with the second unit. He has been one of the team’s best offensive players, always reliable with his efficient shot-creating ability.

Right now, Burks is carrying a load far heavier than he should be. Even so, he is succeeding at a decent rate and is looking more than qualified to be a member of this team next season.

The Warriors have always taken pride in giving a full team effort into their championship runs. They have strayed away from this style in recent years as overwhelming superstar talents such as Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins left little room for role players to leave their mark.

Heading into a new era of Golden State basketball, the Dubs should be looking to build a team capable of going deep into their rotation. They already struck gold in Eric Paschall, the Rising Star rookie who has exceeded expectations as a second-round draft pick.

Burks can be the sixth-man the Dubs need next season. The value of a bench scorer as productive as Burks can go a long way when competing for a championship.
