The Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is set to return on March 1, but should he even return this season?

Taking rest games and weeks has been something NBA fans have been critical of the last couple of years. But, for the Golden State Warriors, it only makes sense to allow Stephen Curry to continue having much-needed rest.

In the fourth game of the season, Curry drove against the Phoenix Suns and was drilled by Aron Baynes. Sadly, the tumble that Curry made pinned his left hand and broke it, resulting in the Warriors season taking a steep downward turn.

The two-time MVP was coming off his fifth-straight NBA Finals run. Winning three of those Finals, Curry was finally able to rest. During the regular season over the last half a decade, it’s been a non-stop push for the Warriors.

Now, at 10-37, the Warriors are six games out of the second-to-last place in the West. They just haven’t been able to win as superstar offseason addition D’Angelo Russell has also missed multiple weeks.

Well, the Warriors are 12 games out of even the eighth place in the West. They’d need a miracle to happen in order to even compete for the playoffs. With that in mind, why even bring Stephen Curry back at all this season?

He may find his rhythm, and the Warriors may rattle off 10 in a row. What does that accomplish? It’d show fans that the Chase Center is still the place to be, but aside from that, it’d only hurt the Warriors moving forward, killing their chances at a top-five pick.

After five straight seasons of 78 or more games, Curry failed to reach 70 over the last two seasons. He’s started to grow more injury prone as he’s inched up into the 30s. That said, why test him, even more, when this season is already gone?

Dub Nation will hate the idea, but Curry could stay on the sideline or at the very least on a minutes restriction while the Warriors are far from playoff position.
