The Golden State Warriors dealt Willie Cauley-Stein without many rumors swirling around the league. Could veteran small forward Alec Burks be up next?

There’s no denying this has been a tough season for the Golden State Warriors. They’ve gone from five straight NBA Finals appearances to dead last in the Western Conference with really no hope of the playoffs.

Even the proposed March 1 return for Stephen Curry will do little to really help Golden State get out of last place. In the minds of some, that’s a good thing as the Warriors will likely secure a top-five pick in the 2020 draft.

For those players that won’t be returning, or at least aren’t under contract, there’s no reason to keep them on the roster when they could benefit a championship-contending team.

Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III are two of them. Willie Cauley-Stein was another yet was traded to the Dallas Mavericks just days ago. Without much warning, the Warriors made the deal for 2020 second-round pick.

They could do the same with Burks or Robinson III. That said, we’ve already gone into three teams that could use Robinson III, so let’s now do the same for Alec Burks, who is having a career year with the Golden State Warriors.
