Since his addition this offseason, the Golden State Warriors have fended off rumors regarding superstar point guard D’Angelo Russell.

This season, the Golden State Warriors are among the worst teams in the NBA. They have just struggled to really get anything going after a short win streak in late December was halted by a ten-game losing streak.

With Stephen Curry’s return on the horizon, the conversation of whether or not D’Angelo Russell truly fits with the Warriors is as vibrant as ever. However, even if he doesn’t fit, there’s really only one suitor for him.

The Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors and Timberwolves both have assets the other team wants without giving up their main trading chip.

It’s an odd situation in which the Warriors have watched Karl-Anthony Towns situation while the Wolves have been rumored to be increasingly interested in Russell. For now, there looks to be very little movement as much of the reports have calmed down in recent weeks.

It seemed obvious that the Warriors were going to at the very least give the backcourt of Russell and Curry a try, forcing Klay Thompson to play the three. However, they were never awarded that opportunity.

Thompson looks unlikely to return and Curry has been out of the bulk of the season with a broken left hand. That’s left the Warriors in the same position, craving the unknown and not really digging deep into trade talk surrounding Russell.

Russell is having a career year in Golden State, averaging 24.0 points per game. An elite guard, Russell’s taken his game to yet another level, but will it mesh with Curry and Thompson is still the question at hand.

While trade talks continue to intensify as the deadline nears, you can rest assured that Russell, whose only suitor is Minnesota, will be in Golden State till the season’s end.
