Lack of Draft Capital

The Golden State Warriors don’t have many draft picks.

That’s what contending for half a decade does to a team. They want to consistently improve, and the majority of the time, that results in them sending away draft picks. This year, they should look to do the opposite.

Burks and Robinson III could bring in some much-needed draft capital.

They don’t have their 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024, or 2026 second-round picks. While they were able to get one back for Willie Cauley-Stein, Golden State could almost replenish all those by dealing Burks and Robinson.

The Warriors selected both Draymond Green and Eric Paschall in the second round. Paschall, a rookie, has shown signs of stardom early on. Green, a three-time All-Star and three-time NBA Champion, has also been highly successful.

The Warriors can straight-up draft in the second round, and snagging picks in that round should be of utmost importance.
